Tyrell introduces a revolutionary new concept in the name of the "P34" (Project 34).

In round four of the F1 world championship in 76,the introduction of a six-wheel f1 car was for the very first time racing in a grand prix and making history.

Some other teams also tried out the concept of six-wheels rite up until the early 1980s, but those cars were never operated in a formula 1 grand prix.

The Tyrell P34 was initially very successful, In 1976 even winning a grand prix in Sweden.
Unfortunately, towards the end of 76 and during the 1977 races performance started to drop off quite markedly against the more usual 4 wheeled cars and in 78, Tyrell reverted back to the more traditional 4 wheel setup themselves.
The dropping of the six-wheeled F1 car was attributed to the fact that the four small front tires lacked development.
Under todays f1 rules a six-wheeled f1 car is now prohibited.
